Fresh water this clear is rare anywhere, and the limestone caverns feeding Gran Cenote let you snorkel between sunlit open pools and dim, stalactite hung cave sections in the same swim. Small turtles are a regular sighting in the shallows near the entrance platform. Arrive before 10am, tour buses fill the small parking lot and the water fast once the day trip crowds land.
