Colombia's coffee axis starts less than two hours outside Medellin, and a working farm tour walks the process from the red cherry on the tree to the cup in your hand, picking, pulping and roasting included on most visits. The drive out through the Antioquia countryside, terraced green hillsides and cable strung valleys, is most of the appeal even before the farm itself. Buy a bag directly from the farm on the way out, it rarely makes it to export and will not taste the same shipped home.
