The wooden pedestrian walkway runs above the traffic lanes the whole way across, and walking it at sunrise means having the gothic stone towers and cable webbing almost entirely to yourself before the day's foot traffic arrives. Finishing in DUMBO on the Brooklyn side sets up the classic photo looking back at the bridge with the Manhattan Bridge framed behind it. Coffee in DUMBO afterward is the reward for the early alarm.
